Vision Statement
The EBO will be a key advocate for the implementation of
evidence based-practice to achieve the highest standards of excellence in the
delivery of quality eye care to all patients.
Mission Statement
The EBO is committed to participate, inform, and learn from initiatives that will define and improve the quality of
ophthalmic practice based on the best evidence of effectiveness and efficient use of resources.
Goals
1. To coordinate and provide educational activities that shall stress the importance of implementing evidence-based medicine in clinical ophthalmic practice.
2. To assist the PAO by collaborating with the Research committee and other subspecialty societies in educating the general membership about current ophthalmic research by clearly identifying the "levels of evidence."
3. To participate as member of the Institutional Review Board of the Research committee in the evaluation of clinical trial protocols submitted to the PAO for BFAD approval.
4. To serve as the technical arm of guideline developers in identifying and appraising medical evidence in the development of clinical practice guidelines.
5. To influence public policy regarding clinical quality, safety, and accountability.
6. To establish coalitions through collaboration with Philippine Health Insurance Corporation and other national organizations involved with clinical quality improvement initiatives
