PAO Policy Statement on Vision Requirements for Driving

The Philippine Academy of Ophthalmology (PAO) recognizes its role in promoting road safety through the endorsement of a minimum visual standard for driving, by proposing vision screening tests and developing a standard protocol by which the ophthalmologist may further evaluate and provide guidance for driving applicants who fail the screening tests.

PNR-ETON Website... Coming Soon

On this weblink will rise the Philippine National Registry for Ethambutol-related Toxic Optic Neuropathy (PNR-ETON), sponsored by the Neuro-Ophthalmology Club of the Philippines (NOCP), in cooperation with the Philippine Academy of Ophthalmology (PAO). This weblink can soon be accessed by any EyeMD and will aim to gather all cases of ETON in our clinics. The numbers we should be able to gather from this registry will push the issue of ETON from the anecdotal to evidence-based. With enough data, we aim to eventually lobby the DOH to put up official recommendatory guidelines (mostly for prescribing physicians) on the proper monitoring of patients under EMB Treatment. In addition, the weblink will contain clinical materials, stats, studies, etc. that can help you detect and manage ETON cases in your clinics.
